Our purposes:
1. To maintain local control over the land.
2. To help ensure a sustainable, year-round community on the islands, including a viable school, and to serve that community.
3. To take land off the speculative market in order to keep it permanently affordable and to facilitate access to land and housing for people of modest means.
4. To encourage environmentally sensitive, sustainable land use appropriate to the island setting; To protect unique and sensitive natural areas, open space, and sacred sites.
5. To encourage low-impact agriculture, cottage industry, and other economic activities, consistent with Waldron’s Subarea Plan or successor land use regulations.
