The Down Town East Side CLT formed in the spring of 2020 when a coalition of DTES-serving non-profits were looking for holistic solutions to the shortage of affordable single-room occupany (SRO) housing. With seed funding grants they were able to hire staff and formally incorporate in 2023. They hope to acquire property for permanent use as affordable housing and public space for DTES residents.
