Julia Polentes is the Communications Director and Community Land Trust Directory Coordinator at the Schumacher Center for New Economics. She manages the Center’s online presence and expands the organization’s database of community land trusts in order to improve programmatic collaboration, as well as develop greater working knowledge about the flexibility and applications of the CLT model.
Julia graduated from the College of William & Mary with a BA in Philosophy. Prior to working with the Schumacher Center, Julia wrote for the American Horticultural Society and grew vegetables on many small-scale, diversified family farms. She joined the Schumacher Center with a profound appreciation of the importance of local agriculture and a firsthand understanding of the failure of our current economic system to provide equitable access to land to live on, farm on, and enjoy.
